About
When students – Māori or otherwise – feel their identity is valued, their confidence, pride and self-belief lead to aspiration and in time, to achievement.
“Children, all children, can write about issues close to their lives and hearts. Their lives matter, and aspects of those lives are worth recording.”
Elwyn Richardson.
We believe that having something to say and being armed with the ability to express it with clarity, personal voice, and precision is the ultimate outcome of education in the 21st century. The ability of our learners to find their voice and to express themselves effectively will be arguably the dominant determiner in the future health, wealth and well-being of our young learners in an uncertain world.
Biblio offers a new approach to curriculum. We know that filling students with information and teaching skills in isolation doesn’t work. In an age where we have an abundance of content and knowledge at our fingertips, we must evolve to facilitate the development of thinking structures for our students with which to process information.
With Biblio, expect to help children to find what it is they have to say, to mine their lives for what matters, to develop habits of inquiry, to learn to write from writers and rich literature, and to empower learners to write well in return. Together, we can lead learners to say this is what I believe, this is what I care about, and this is who I am…
